Today on the blog, I wanted to get in touch with my fellow new moms out there who need one less thing to worry about, while you’re trying to savor every moment with your tiny newborn babe, and that is: what you’re going to put into your diaper bag. I created a diaper bag checklist that covers everything you might want to have in your bag, if you have a baby in the 0-6 month range!
Ezra is growing up so fast – It seems like he was a newborn just last week. Although I may be guilty of wishing time would move faster, I will NEVER wish the same for Ezra’s babyhood. I struggled so much in the beginning as a new mom, which made it easy to say things like “ugh I can’t wait until ‘blank’ “, whether that’d be getting a full night’s sleep, or something like being able to go out in public without Ezra getting too fussy. But now looking back, I wish I would have cherished that newborn stage a little bit more.
Everything in this post can be purchased right from Amazon! Amazon Prime has seriously been the best thing to have as a parent, because we can order diapers and whatever-else and have it delivered the next day.
Diaper Bag Checklist 0-6 Months
RUVALINO Diaper Bag Backpack
First things first - the bag to carry it all!
I originally was gifted a beautiful over-the-shoulder bag that I wanted, but shortly realized it just wasn't working for us. After recommendations from a friend, we decided to go with a backpack - it's easy to carry (lets you be hands-free!) and the color was one that was husband-friendly too. Unfortunately our diaper bag isn't offered by the company anymore, BUT this backpack is similar, highly rated and definitely worth checking out!
HUGGIES Snug & Dry Diapers
We have tried a LOT of diaper brands with Ezra, and Huggies is one we love! They are hypoallergenic and have zero fragrance, which was great for my postpartum super-nose and Ezra's sensitive skin.
WaterWipes Sensitive Baby Wipes
These are our favorite baby wipes EVER, and they're the perfect all-in-one wipe. Unscented and all-natural, these are not only perfect for the sensitive diaper area, but also for little hands and noses.
Munchkin Arm and Hammer Diaper Bag Dispenser
These make it easy to dispose of stinky diapers on the go!
Portable Changing Pad
A portable changing pad is a must-have on any diaper bag checklist. Who knows what germs live on changing tables in public places. Give yourself peace of mind when changing your baby on the go!
bumGenius Outing Wet Bag
No newborn diaper bag checklist is complete without a wet bag. Whether you choose to use cloth or traditional diapers, a wet bag is always a good thing to have in your diaper bag, for those occasional blow-outs or spit-up mishaps that leave you with a pile of dirty laundry. Throw it all into the wet bag, and worry about it when you get home (just don't forget about it haha)!
Age Appropriate Sensory Toys or Teethers
We are always carrying a variety of toys and teethers for Ezra in our diaper bag. I love this Skip Hop Activity Book for babies because it's interesting for them to look at, play with and hold, and is the perfect thing for a quick distraction when you need it!
Natural Antimicrobial Hand Sanitizer Gel
A great natural sanitizer that actually works - for after those diaper changes! I love that Elyptol is approved by the Environmental Working Group for being fully transparent with their ingredients, avoiding chemicals of concern, and following good manufacturing practices!
Mini First Aid Kit
I always keep a mini first aid kit in my diaper bag, I've actually had to refill the bandages multiple times! it's nice knowing I have a few necessary supplies in case of emergency.
Extra Pacifier & Babygoal Pacifier Clips
If your baby takes a pacifier, you will definitely want to put an extra one (or two) in your diaper bag. I absolutely love cute pacifier clips like these ones to keep the pacifier from getting lost!
I love these soft, stretchy nursing covers that can be used also as a carseat or high-chair cover! This is a must-have when you desire privacy for you and your baby - and this print is SO adorable!
Formula Dispenser / Snack Holder
I love this cute, stackable container that can hold multiple servings of formula OR snacks for your little one! This is so handy to have in your diaper bag on the go.
Burp Cloth / Bib
Any time a baby is eating, it's best to have a bib or burp cloth handy! I love muslin burp cloths because they are soft, yet absorbent, and they're easy to roll up tightly and keep in your diaper bag.
A few extra things…
Here are a few extra things you might want to include in your diaper bag if you have a baby 0-6 months old – that I didn’t include above. These aren’t 100% necessary, but might be good to have on hand based on your individual needs!
Diaper Rash Ointment
A Change of Clothes for Baby
A Swaddle Blanket
Extra Breast Pads (if you’re breastfeeding!)
Your Favorite Bottles
Snacks for Mom!
A Water Bottle
